Cloud Nothings' The Shadow I Remember draws on singer-songwriter Dylan Baldi's original demos, recapturing his spirit as a solo act and fleshing it out with the band's energy. The result is an enjoyable set of punchy, powerful tunes chock full of emotion and self-critical lyrics. "The Spirit Of" is the perfect example of this, racing along with infectious lead guitar toward an end that tumbles apart in a satisfying way. "Nothing Without You" is fiercely melodic and catchy with sweet-toned guest vocals from Macie Stewart of Ohmme.
