The Supporting Character (LP)
Emily Kinney
Amoeba Review
Sweet-voiced actress/musician Emily Kinney has released her fourth studio album of Americana-pop, The Supporting Character. “Omaha Hotel” is a charmingly catchy tune with pretty guitar and wry lyrics about going back to her hometown. Her lyrics are consistently strong here, like on “Fifteen Minutes,” in which she gently muses on juggling a busy schedule and a relationship. “Skinny” addresses the struggle of meeting Hollywood's impossible physical standard for actresses, wrapped up in a sweet melody that kicks in with emphatic drum beats at the end.
