There Is No Other... (LP)
Isobel Campbell
Amoeba Review
07/21/2020
Former Belle & Sebastian singer Isobel Campbell's first new album since 2010's Hawk with Mark Lanegan is a lush melding of pop, folk, country, soul and even some bossa nova. There is a consistent 60s swirl to everything Campbell graces with her super-soft voice; “The National Bird of India” is lightly psychedelic and “Hey World” could be an Archies number. “Ant Life” is an easygoing indie pop tune and the sleepy, angelic take on Tom Petty's “Runnin' Down A Dream” is quite a good cover.
