Australian indie rockers Children Collide are either here to save rock ’n’ roll or destroy it. Their latest, Time Itself, makes a good case for both possibilities, with the band cranking out impossible-to-resist White Stripes-esque grooves (“Uh Oh”) before totally shredding out abrasive post-punk stompers (“Man of the People”). Whatever they’re doing, Children Collide sound fresh as hell, and Time Itself should serve as a welcome introduction to a wider fanbase. There’s danger just around the corner on this enthralling new album, and man, does it feel good.
