Vi/deo (CD)
Xeno & Oaklander
Amoeba Review
Electronic/minimal wave favorites Xeno and Oaklander (Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride) have released their seventh album, Vi/deo, and it’s a true delight. The album kicks off with the bouncy, angular synths of “Infinite Sadness,” which sounds darkly joyful despite its title. The analog sounds and strong melodies of ‘80s dark wave and synth pop are consistently absorbing and infectious here. “Poison” is the perfect spooky dance number while “Afar” is lush and romantic with French lyrics from the soft-voiced Wendelbo.
