Vols. 11 & 12 (LP)
The Desert Sessions
Amoeba Review
07/24/2020
Some things are just worth the wait. Fans of Josh Homme’s rotating musical collective have had to spend the last sixteen years looking for clues about any impending releases — until today, when the Queens of the Stone Age founder unleashes The Desert Sessions' Vol. 11 & 12 on the public. The Joshua Tree stars shine bright as ever on this one, with the likes of Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Mike Kerr (Royal Blood), Carla Azar (Autolux, Jack White), Les Claypool (Primus), Matt Sweeney, Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, Toast of London), Libby Grace, and Töôrnst Hülpft all holed up together for six magical days in the desert, creating eight challenging yet addictive new songs together. Meant to be played loud, this one will stay on your turntable for months to come (just hopefully not nearly 200 months again).
