Warlord Of The Weejuns [Brown Vinyl] (LP)
Goya Gumbani
Amoeba Review
Informed by London new jazz and classic NYC hip-hop, Goya Gumbani's debut album already feels like a classic. Warlord of the Weejuns takes its title from an old magazine article about Miles Davis' sartorial swagger (namely his iconic Weejuns loafers); that sense of timeless cool effortlessly pervades Goya's record, too. After a series of acclaimed self-released albums, this is his first for Ghostly and it feels like a new chapter not just for the label and the artist, but for music in general. More of this lush, vibrant endless summer sound, please.
