We Are Ever So Clean [Import] (CD)
Blossom Toes
Amoeba Review
Tiffany Anders 07/07/2010
With a sound similar to the more whimsical and sometimes comical psychedelic side of The Beatles (think Magical Mystery Tour), The Blossom Toes are one of the most delightful pop psychedelic bands that came out of the U.K. in the late 1960s. Produced by Giorgio Gomelsky, who discovered both The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds, The Blossom Toes debut We Are Ever So Clean blends stunning harmonies, light orchestral arrangements, and psychedelic rock instrumentation together to make for an exquisite listen from start to finish. While most of the lyrical content here is of a light nonsensical flavor (like that of "Mister Watchmaker" and "The Intrepid Balloonist's Handbook Vol. 1"), some of the songs, like the lovely “Love Is” and “You,” contain surprisingly strong poetic insights. The 2007 Sunbeam re-issue contains ten bonus tracks and features fantastic packaging with interviews and pictures of the band. This album has long been sought after by collectors and is an absolute must-have for fans of British psychedelic pop.
