WE (CD)
Arcade Fire
Amoeba Review
With the news that Win Butler has left Arcade Fire, fans will find a lot of emotion and expectations resting on WE. The good news is that WE feels like classic Arcade Fire, with all the elements that made the group such a rip-roaring indie rock success. The songs are rousing, triumphant and melancholy, pulling off that particular Arcade Fire trick of imbuing deep meaning into even the most quotidian of circumstances. It’s a fitting send-off for the much-loved Butler and a real gift for everyone who wants just one more experience of the band’s transcendent, soaring beauty.
