Weed, Wine & Time (CD)
Caleb Elliott
Amoeba Review
Caleb Elliott’s Weed, Wine & Time is a celebration of resilience, of finding the light mixed in with the shadows. Born in small-town Louisiana, Elliott grew up immersed in gospel and classical music. While neither has an immediate influence on his output as an artist, there is a sense of hope, transcendence, and plainspokenness to his songs. Pulling from indie, folk, country, and even soul-jazz, the compositions are dreamy, easygoing, and lovely. Sometimes deceptively so—every so often a lyric drifts across these silky smooth melodies and makes you stop in your tracks, heart-struck by the relatability or the devastation of the moment. Weed, Wine & Time is a special album that makes Caleb Elliott one to watch.
