Aja Monet demonstrates the power of poetry on the aptly named When The Poems Do What They Do. The Brooklyn-born artist attained the Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam poetry award title in 2007, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Award for Poetry in 2019, and was nominated for an NAACP Literary Award for Poetry in 2018.
