Who Is Afraid Of Blue? (CD)
Purr
Amoeba Review
As Purr, Jack Staffen and Eliza Callahan write quietly powerful indie with heart-tugging hooks and gorgeous vocals. On Who Is Afraid of Blue?, the vibe is eclectic: The duo take turns on vocal duties, at times coming together for beautifully harmonized choruses or backing vocals. Staffen's voice is velvety, agile, and comforting while Callahan's is lyrical, honeyed, and at times haunting. On every level, these songs are things of beauty. Who Is Afraid of Blue? is lushly textured, moving, and addictive in its emotional urgency.
