Year Of The Spider (CD)
Shannon & The Clams
Amoeba Review
Shannon and The Clams’ quirky garage rock shines on Year of The Spider with highlights like “Midnight Wine” and “Snakes Crawl” – melodramatic, evocative and awash in psychedelic organ. There is ‘60s girl-group flair to spare, especially on the charming “Mary, Don’t Go” and the uplifting title track with its angsty chorus. Then there is “In The Hills, In The Pines," a lovely track on its own without being quite so indebted to retro sounds.
