The Vinyl Vaults are Amoeba's digitized and remastered collection of out-of-print LPs, 45s, and 78s. We have used various technologies to restore the sound and maximize the listening experience of the songs contained on the original vinyl. Many of these records are very old, rare and/or obscure, and have never been available on CD or for downloading.

All Vinyl Vaults tracks allow for a 30-90 second sample in MP3 format. Please preview any tracks before purchasing to ensure they meet your satisfaction, as we cannot offer refunds on purchased downloads.

Where they exist, yes. All images of the original piece are available for browsing on the item’s detail page.

In general, yes, though you'll need to check the item's detail page for availability. As many Vinyl Vaults pieces are rare and unique one-off's in the physical world, we often sell this "source" copy quickly when available.

As you can imagine, Amoeba has seen tons of vinyl pass through its stores and on to happy listeners throughout the years. As music lovers we wanted to keep alive this music that has been created over the years but may have otherwise been “lost”, so we began to reach out to rights holders of unique content to share this amazing and growing collection with you.

We have tracked down as many of the rights holders as we could find but, unfortunately, there have been some artists, song writers, publishers and/or record companies or their respective heirs and successors that we have not been able to find. We ask you while you are browsing the Vinyl Vault, if you are a rights holder to a master recording and/or composition in the Vinyl Vault or know of someone who is, please contact us at vinylvaults@amoeba.com. We would like to work out agreements with all such rights holders for the inclusion of such material in the Vinyl Vault so that we can continue to make such tracks available to the music lovers of the world.
