Douglas Dare - Biography
Douglas Dare is a British singer-songwriter who combines acoustic instrumentation including piano and percussion with glitchy electronic elements. Born to a piano instructor, Dare started playing piano and composing music at an early age. By 18, he became interested in writing songs and, after moving to East London, he began writing and recording songs with lyrics culled from his own poems and short prose. Dare released his first EP, Seven Hours, in September 2013 on the Erased Tapes label to praise from influential BBC Radio host Mary Anne Hobbs and Drowned In Sound. Working with his longtime friend and producer, Fabian Prynn, Dare recorded his full-length debut, Whelm (Erased Tapes), which was released in May 2014. He then went on a North American tour with label mate Nils Frahm. He is currently headlining a European tour with a full band.
