Glands Of External Secretion - Biography
By Marcus Kagler
Glands of External Secretion are an avant-garde recording project based out of San Francisco that featured indie singer/songwriter Barbara Manning and Seymour Glass amongst others. The group specialized in intercut tape loops, creating a cacophony of spliced natural and unnatural noises into experimental songs (although their music cannot be described as “songs” in the traditional sense of the word). GES released their debut album, Northern Exposure Will Be Right Back (Starlight Furniture) in 1995, followed by a sophomore release, Who’s Who in Hospitalization (Starlight Furniture) in 1997.
