Hanni El Khatib - Biography
Hanni El Khatib is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer, and skateboarder based in Los Angeles. Growing up in San Francisco with Palestinian and Filipino parents who loved classic rock, El Khatib was surrounded by a mix of cultures who used English as a meeting point. On his debut full-length, Will The Guns Come Out (released Sept 27, 2011 on Innovative Leisure, a subsidiary of Stones Throw Records), his love of punk, garage rock, blues, and R&B from the '50s and '60s is transformed into his own particular sound. El Khatib's track "I Got a Thing," which is a reworking of Funkadelic's "I got a Thing, You Got a Thing, Everybody's Got a Thing," was used in a 2011 global ad campaign for Nike. El Khatib is releasing his sophomore album, Head In The Dirt, April 30, 2013 on Innovative Leisure. The album was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and recorded in Auerbach's Nashville studio
