Jerry Vale - Biography
Jerry Vale (Born Genaro Louis Vitaliano, July 8th, 1930, The Bronx- New York City) was an Italian American pop vocalist successful mostly in the 1950s and 1960s, for his many renditions of Italian and pop standards, amongst them "Innamorata," "You Don't Know Me," "Al Di La," "Old Cape Cod,""Have You Looked Into You Heart," and "Pretend You Don't See Here"- a low reaching chart single back in 1957, that became one of his most requested numbers after appearing in the movie Goodfellas, singing it in a nightclub scene. Once his popularity on the singles charts slowed, he became a popular cabaret and night club entertainer, his fierce Italian-American audience sticking by him, being a vocalist of distinction and taste. He was good friends with Frank Sinatra, and enormously respected by his peer group. Jerry Vale died on May 18th, 2014, aged 83, at his home in Palm Desert, California, of natural causes.
