Lykke Li - Biography
Lykke Li is a Swedish singer-songwriter. Born Lykke Li Zachrisson in Sweden, her family moved between Sweden, Portugal, and India during her childhood. At 19, she moved to New York City for a few months, but by 20 she was back in Sweden working on her debut full-length, Youth Novels (Atlantic), with producer Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John. In the meantime, she self-released the Little Bit EP (LL Recordings, 2007) which attracted attention from Stereogum, Swedish MTV, and the Swedish Grammy Awards. Released when she was 22, Youth Novels garnered more critical acclaim and saw Lykke Li selling out tours, playing festivals including Coachella and Lollapalooza, and recording a song for the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack. After two years supporting the album around the world, Lykke Li ended up in Los Angeles to recover from a broken heart and to write her sophomore album. Once again she teamed up with Yttling and the resulting album, Wounded Rhymes (Atlantic), was released on March 2, 2011.
