Ron Trent - Biography
Ron Trent is a house DJ, producer, and re-mixer from Chicago. Raised in a household that loved music (his father was a DJ and percussionist), Trent began DJing at parties in 1987. In 1990 - at age 14 - he released his first single, "Altered States," which became a club classic. In 1993, Trent formed Prescription Records with Chaz Damier, a label that is regarded as a highly influential Deep House imprint. Trent moved to New York City in 1998, continuing to release 12"s and solidfying his reputation as a DJ and producer. He became a resident at Giant Step's weekly party at Shine Nightclub and produced original tracks for the Giant Step label with 4Hero and Amel Larrieux. Ron has also produced and remixed Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Jody Watley, Goapele, and N’Dambi, among others. Trent returned to Chicago, creating the AFRICA HI-FI event, relaunching Prescription Records and starting another label, Future Vision Records.
