The Budos Band - Biography
The Budos Band is a New York-based instrumental ensemble rooted in Afro-beat, soul jazz and funk music. After forming at a jam session hosted by Antibalas, the group released their self-titled debut on Daptone Records in 2005. Two years later, they followed this release up with The Budos Band II, a lengthy promotional tour, and a hiatus during which the many members contributed to other projects.
In 2010, the band reunited once more for their third effort, aptly titled The Budos Band III. 2014 marked a slight shift in direction for the band, when their new album Burnt Offering saw the group dabbling in psychedelia and vintage soundtrack music while still staying true to their Afro-beat and funk foundations. The Budos Band will be appearing at several North America summer festivals this year, such as Sasquatch and Desert Daze.
