The Glitch Mob - Biography
Los Angeles' The Glitch Mob formed around 2006, passing through various members until settling on a core trio of musicians featuring edIT, Boreta, and Ooah. Taking the city's IDM/hip-hop scene by storm, they were quickly lumped in with such tastemakers as Flying Lotus, Daedelus, and Nosaj Thing, their reputation growing with the release of mixtapes Crush Mode (2008) and Local Area Network (2009). In 2008, the group turned its collective skills to remixes, eventually working with everyone from TV on the Radio to Daft Punk. 2010 saw the release of the band's first full-length album, the 10-song - Drink the Sea.
After several years spent touring the US, Europe, and Australia and playing major festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Electric Daisy Carnival, the Mob released 2014’s Love Death Immortality, on their own Glass Air Records imprint. Featuring guest vocalists Metal Mother, Aja Volkman (Nico Vega), and Terra Lopez (Sister Crayon), the album debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, and saw the instrumentalists/producers moving away from the more introspective sound of their debut and towards the bigger, wilder sound of the dancefloor.
