What are customers saying about us? Well, have a look. Bellow you will find testimonials and feedback from different Amoeba Customers.
I LOVE Amoeba!! I have gone to all 3 store and I can spend hours just looking around. The people that work there are always friendly and it's just a great atmosphere. I love that there is music from all over the world. it's just great!!
I live in Orange County and I think Amoeba Records is the best record store. Most music that I listen to you can't get at a mainstream record store. Amoeba Records has the most underground Black Metal and Industrial-EBM music Anywhere. I just wish that you would open up an Amoeba record store here in Orange County.
When will you get your online store going for those of us who moved from California and miss you dearly?? You're the only reason we ever visit Hollywood Damn it!
The best music spot there is! Period. Look out now!
There are two things in this world that I buy. Gems & Jams. When I seekth the gems I go to Hobby Lobby for their discount prices. When I seekth thy jams I go to Amoeba Music. I would specifically like to thank you for the Frankie Valli Greatest Hits record that I found where he is regally attired in a brown acylic pull-over drizzled with a starburst sequin applique. What a cream dream! A true rarity on the Gem Sweater collectors circuit.
Whenever I'm feeling stressed from all the pressure at work or just buried under the day-to-day obligations of life I like to visit Amoeba and start going through the old vinyl and checking out the posters. It takes me to another world. I always find something whether it's jazz, rock or just something a bit avant garde with interesting artwork... It's great therapy and I can usually keep my spending to a reasonable amount. Like entering another dimension...Thanks. Growing up in San Jose in the 80s, as soon as I got my driver’s license, I drove to Telegraph for a date with Amoeba. We hit it off right away and became high school sweethearts. In the mid-90s, I moved to S.F. which was perfect because she recently got a second home off Haight St.. We hung out all the time. When I moved to L.A. in 2000, I was sad to be so far away and thought our relationship was in danger. She promised me to hang in there because she was getting another place off Sunset. She stayed true to her word and now we’re celebrating over 20 faithful years together. There’s nothing like Amoeba!
Amoeba is the high church of music for record geeks.
Whenever I am in L.A., my first stop is always Amoeba Music. I have a huge collection of vinyl, and the staff is always thrilled to help. You can tell them that you like the Foo Fighters, but Dean Martin too, and they don’t blink an eye.
From my formative years I have fond memories of musicians such as Eric Dolphy and Charles Mingus visiting my house to see my Uncle and Mother, both of whom had been schoolmates with Eric and Charles in the late 1940s. On one occasion I recall Rahassan Roland Kirk and Dexter Gordon stopping by to see my Uncle prior to their respective gigs. Needless to say I was hooked on music at an early age and have craved its presence ever since. Throughout my life I’ve been encouraged by musicians and educators to study all forms of music. This requires support from knowledgeable people who take great care in obtaining and maintaining a wide selection of music representing all genres and making it available to the customers at the best prices in town. Hell, on occasion (like this week) I’ve found myself compelled to take daily trips to satisfy my musical needs which invariably leads to enlightening conversation with the staff and fellow music junkies. I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel the world and on each occasion I’ve sought the best music stores available, and being from Los Angeles I’m proud to say that Amoeba ranks at the top of my list.
