Upraising Live (LP)

Bob Marley
Recorded live in 1981 in Europe where the Wailers opened up for Fleetwood Mac and performed Solo shows in support of their latest album uprising ,which was set to break them into African-American audience once and for all. The Wailers would be on tour with the Commodores kicking off in Madison Square Garden Mr. Marley was at his intense best The wailers were one of the tightest live bands in rock history at this point of their career and the backing trio ,The I Three were beautiful talented ladies at the height of their vocal powers No one in the band knew how sick Mr. Marley was except himself but he pushed through He soldiered on - and this was to be their last album and their last tour together And I am so happy that this performance was captured and recorded . This is what Mr. Marley wanted , His music to live on and on And to continue to uplift and inspire people all over the world. Rastaman live up -Positive vibrations Read more

To All Trains (LP)

Shellac
It's the final Shellac album and it satisfies. You know what you're signing up for. The lyrics are hilarious and the instrumentation is fucking sick! R.I.P Steve Albini. Read more

Magic Fig (LP)

Magic Fig
This is my favorite Bay Area band at the moment. Their self titled EP is just a magical work of art. Very wizardly, mystical forest dreamlike and lovely sweet with their Canterbury sound. My favorite pieces from their sound are the synth and vocal elements but it's fucking great altogether. They are all talented musicians and there aren't many bands today that sound like them . 1982 (LP)

Ike Yard
Very strange and eeire synth music. Kinda sounds like working at a factory that manufactures cyborgs that will inevitably destroy the human race. But you're okay with it. Read more

Redd Kross (LP)

Redd Kross
45 years into their career, Redd Kross seem to finally be getting their due. A new career spanning documentary and book are on the way, but first is this self-titled double album. Without feeling too self-referential, the band are able to make subtle nods to their younger selves while just ripping through 18 garage-y power pop tracks with as much energy as they've ever had. I guess when you start your band at 15 and 11, you can still sound vital 45 years later. Read more

Cometh The Storm (LP)

High On Fire
Matt Pike put out a varied, very pandemic era solo album but is now back with his long running band and this time around seems happy to chug away in classic High On Fire style. Nothing too fancy here, just more riffs to blow your hair back. Sometimes less is more and this one never lets its foot off the gas. Read more

Hellish Expectations (LP)

Midnight
You know what you're going to get with a new Midnight album, Motorhead like riffs with a heavy dose of Venom layered on top. That's what you get here and, at 28 minutes, it's a solid get in/get out affair. Read more

Empty (LP)

Bongripper
If repetitious stoner doom instrumentals are your thing, you can't do much better than Chicago's Bongripper. 4 songs, 60+ minutes. It's slow and heavy, although they kind of let it get loose on a couple tracks, as a treat. But never for too long. Their bread and butter is to test your patience and trust that you're there for the long haul. Read more

All Life Long (LP)

Kali Malone
Kali Malone returns to pipe organ drones on her 6th album, but augments that instrument with a brass ensemble and a choir. There are more discernible melodies here than on previous works, but that's all relative. The vocal pieces are new and add to the already very spiritual nature of her compositions. Read more

A glitchy and sunny paradise. This record makes me feel like a fish in a digital ocean; an ocean so vibrant, textured, and filled with many little details. It’s Interesting how it sounds so natural yet is made with digital parts. One of my favorite records I found this year Read more
